When it comes to the media, people often seem to believe it is solely print publications or broadcast news stations, despite the print publication's closer status to the press. However, the idea of media has grown more and more as society becomes more technologically advanced, now encompassing social media, entertainment, and even music. However, with this widespread idea of media comes the allowance for many issues; the more information is spread, the more that could occur. Misinformation, bias, and the ability to fully influence popular opinion were huge issues my classmates brought up, and for very good reason. In a society where information is available at the push of a button, it is important to ensure that the information is true, unbiased, and leaves room for one to form their own opinion. All around, this is extremely important to me due to my pursuance of a journalism degree and career; much of my time will be spent in relation to media. My main goal is to not only inform the public, but to do so in the most beneficial and effective way possible.
