About Me!

Hello, everyone! My name is Rayna Melynn, but most people just call me Rayna. I was born in Lake Charles, Louisiana, but mostly raised in a small town called Mauriceville, Texas by my two loving parents. I am currently a junior at Lamar University majoring in communications with a concentration in journalism. Alongside my coursework, I am the editor-in-chief of the University Press, secretary for the Texas Intercollegiate Press Association, and an Orientation Leader. I am enrolled in the Reaud Honors College, and I am involved in Redbeak Productions and the Honors Student Association. I am also a member of Alpha Chi Omega and serve as a non-voting member on the United Way of Mid and South Jefferson County board through the Stepping Up Civic Leadership program.

I have a passion for both journalism and service, and plan to continue my work in both fields throughout the future. After obtaining my degree, I not only hope to become a journalist, but to partner with local nonprofits to get them the traction they need to serve our community through those media relations. After gaining experience in the inner workings of a nonprofit, I hope to start my own based around youth mental health with a faith focus. I look forward wholeheartedly to getting to use my communications experience to help young adults who might struggle the same way I had in the past!
